ā€œEat a live frog first thing in the morning and nothing worse will happen to you the rest of the day.ā€ (Mark Twain)

Pomodoro

ā€˜Eat that frog with a Pomodoroā€™ is the term that sounds quite interesting. I was completely unaware of this term before joining this online course of Amal as part of our project 4.

So, what is a Frog??? The ā€œfrogā€ is the most important item on your to-do list. It is the one thing that you can do right now that is the best use of your time. It is something that checks all of the boxes of importance, high-priority, and high-value.

ā€œYour ā€˜frogā€™ is your biggest, most important task, the one you are most likely to procrastinate on if you donā€™t do something about it. It is also the one task that can have the greatest positive impact on your life and results at the moment.ā€

Pomodoro Technique

It is actually a time management technique developed by Francesco Cirillo in the late 1980s. The technique uses a timer to break down work into intervals, traditionally 25 minutes in length, separated by short breaks. A Pomodoro is 25 minutes because itā€™s the perfect length of time to help you not procrastinate, be productive, create urgency and help you stay focused on any task you are tackling.

Pomodoro Technique

In order to complete my weekly tasks list on time including Amal online course I performed this technique. And I really enjoyed planning all the tasks. First of all I made a to-do list of my tasks that I was going to perform. Here are the steps which I performed:

1.Decided the task to be done: I planned to write assignment questions for the B.Ed. syllabus. Every day I thought I would write these today, then tomorrow then day after tomorrow. And many today passed away in this wait.

2.Set the Pomodoro timer: Then I set a timer of 25 minutes in my mobile that is suggested time for this technique

ā€œAs the timer clicks away, I get to it. I can work on anything for 25 minutesā€. ā€“Jeannel King

3. Remove distractions: First I removed all the distractions surrounding me, I set myself on a calm place where there was no distraction of my siblings and no noise. Set aside my mobile phone.

4: Start working on the task: I immediately took a step and started writing assignment questions with full concentration then alarm rang after 25 minutes.

5: Then I took a short 3ā€“5 minutes break and enjoyed a cup of hot tea.

6. Again then I set another Pomodoro (steps 1ā€“4) and started working in the same way. This time I completed my online course 2.

Experience

I found this technique quite helpful. It helped me a lot to complete my tasks on time. I would like to use this technique again and again for future tasks as it saves time and keeps the mind fresh. It is an amazing technique for removing procrastination from our lives. I mostly like to live in my comfort zone but when I performed this technique it helped me a lot to eradicate that comfort.

ā€œIt has helped me beat deadlines much faster and has reduced the stress of missing important tasks or not getting them done on timeā€. ā€“Thomas Fulmer
